Nature meets minimalism in our LA development mural

At Loam, our team was asked to create an art installation that exemplifies the essence of the design for a new development based in Los Angeles, which emphasizes minimalism, bright open spaces, and calm work areas in their building architecture. To achieve our goal, we surveyed the San Gabriel mountain range and selected locations at various elevations to inspire our found objects. We interpreted the mountains' form and shape by using a flattened image of the original rendering. Then, collected source materials that best represent the ecology, geology, and history of each selected elevation, and utilized them to make impressions into lime plaster. These impressions were placed on our mural, with their location on the mural corresponding to their elevation. While we aim to be creative, we ensured our client that the materials' portrayal is accurate to tell an authentic story of the mountains and adheres to their needs.
